The Glow Edition- January 2022

What's hot in 2022?

The year 2022 is around the corner and beauty writers everywhere are busy with their crystal balls and tea leaves trying to predict beauty trends for next year. I, for one, cannot wait for 2022. If my crystal ball is correct, next year will be filled with more glowy skin and minimalist routines everywhere! (If you’re reading this in 2023, please don’t judge my predictions too harshly🤣).

What can we expect to see in 2022?👀

Hormonal Skincare: forget anti ageing, next year's buzz will be for products that can actually make a difference.

A subject that resonates to me personally, hormonal skincare offers a non-judgemental, realistic way to care for the skin. Unlike anti ageing marketing, hormone focused discussions celebrate the process our skin goes through and helps us understand why our complexions change at different ages.

Hormonal skincare will look at ingredient specific products that calm, soothe and cleanse the skin in a gentle way. This is something I've built my business on so some of the key ingredients in beauty balm formulas are always good ones to keep an eye out for! For example, rosehip oil is absolutely packed with essential fatty acids and antioxidants that will work to reduce any stresses within the skin.

Skinimalism: The simplified routines that are taking the industry by storm.

Not completely new to skincare lovers, the Skinimalism movement saw a rise last year thanks to lockdowns causing more conscious shopping. But in 2022 you can expect that simple and minimalistic routines will be the norm. Companies are moving towards multi-use products which mean no more 9 step routines or a suitcase just for your toiletries. Great if you're watching your spending but also means less packaging waste!

What can a Skinimalist Routine look like?

✨ Multi Task Cleanser- something gentle enough for the morning but also to rmeove the day's dirt at night. Cleansing Balms work perfectly for this- particularly my Tea Tree one as it thoroughly cleanses without drying the skin and also acts as an effective makeup remover!

✨ Facial Oil- a perfect blend of active ingredients can mean just a few drops of facial oil will revitalise the skin. No need for lotions and potions that cause build up and bacteria on the skin.

✨ Lip Balm- an underrated product in my eyes. Have you noticed that if your lips are dry and chapped, your whole face feels dehydrated? Shea and Cocoa Butters are key in any good lip balm. Highly protective and moisturising, they make lip balm an intense conditioner for the skin. Another multi use product...swipe over the cracked skin on your hands or dry elbows for instant soft skin!

Essentially to be a Skinimalist you have to live consciously; be aware of what journey your purchases have been through and the effects of that. Keep it simple; simple ingredient lists and simple routines make for a less cluttered life and world. Also to actually buy less; buy what you need and what will actually get used!

 2022- the year of wellness

In a world where COVID is still affecting our daily lives, practicing self care has never been more important. Here are 3 ways you can protect your peace this year:

  1. Develop an attitude of gratitude. Sometimes it's hard to remember that better days are coming and that there are always things to be grateful for. However by spending just 5 minutes thinking about or jotting down a few things you are grateful for that day, your mindset becomes much more optimistic.
  2. Be selfish. I think the word selfish gets thrown about a bit too much. Saying no to something or doing things for yourself is necessary not selfish. Take an evening to do some skincare. Cancel plans to relax at home. Do things for you this year.
  3. Have mindfulness habits. Being a bit of a control freak means I thrive off of routine. Having things I do daily, or at least regularly allows me to re-centre my mindset and remember to take a moment to slow down and breathe. For you this could be journaling, yoga, a morning walk, reading a book, pampering yourself, spending time doing something that makes you feel good!

What's in store at beauty balm for the New Year?

"New Year, same me...just prioritising my happiness" is what I'm basing my new year plans off of. Although there will be new products and ideas throughout the year, I'll be focusing on making the current range as perfect as it can be!🤩 Changes with the packaging and making beauty balm as green as possible, but of course keeping the same quality formulas is what you can expect to see👀

I hope you all have the calmest, most mindful start to the year! I can't wait to see what 2022 has in store✨
